June is Pride Month, a time to recognize and honour every individual’s right to equality, and to celebrate the richness that 2SLGBTQ+ individuals bring to our communities.
It is also National Indigenous History Month in Canada, a time to recognize the rich history, heritage, resilience and diversity of First Nations, Inuit and Métis.

MERIT Clinician Scientist
MERIT welcomes Dr. Arden Azim as the newest clinician scientist!
Dr. Azim is a Clinical Scholar in the Division of General Internal Medicine and internist at Hamilton Health Sciences. She will be starting a position as a Clinician Educator within the Division of General Internal Medicine and Assistant Professor of Medicine at McMaster University on July 1, 2025. Arden graduated from the University of British Columbia with a BSc in 2014, and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing, University of Toronto in 2016. She graduated from Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine with an MD in 2019, and completed both internal medicine residency and a fellowship in general internal medicine at McMaster University. She will graduate with a Masters in Health Professions Education from Maastricht University this year. Arden has held a position as the Interprofessional Education Lead at the Centre for Simulation-Based Learning since 2019. Driven by her dual professional background, she has research interests in interprofessional education and simulation-based learning.
